Default Crazy long list of ideas (not balance issues!)

Due to suggestions as such, i will attempt to format slightly more logically...

OK, i tried to post all of this the other day, i dont know that i did, because i think something happened with the post, i dunno, so if this ends up being the second simalar post, i apologize.

Lots of these ideas have to do with interface issues/ideas for gold sinks, and all of them, as far as i know are perfectly do-able (unless otherwise noted)

Some of these ideas may have been mentioned before or thought of before, I am not copying anyone as far as i know, all this has been thought up by me, again, unless otherwise noted (granted some ideas are pretty universally desired)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Popular desires I agree with: (i wont go into too much detail as far as these ideas as most have been discussed and/or VERY straight forward)
-------------------------------------
1)WHITE DYE.... why wasnt this here to begin with?

2)Guild Hall "banners" why arent they MY cape design? I mean, cmon.. would it REALLY be that hard?

3)Player housing, guild hall gold sinks (will edit and include link to the combined guild hall desires list but i am @ work, so its hard to have two open windows and copy and paste and all that [dont ask])
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=37949

4)Ranger attribute balancing (which is a whole other argument unto itself which i wont get into, as there are threads devoted to this, but i agree that a powerful ranger has to spread too thin to be able to use their secondary)

5)"Beauty" Merchant For appearance changes and the like
And i saw someone mention the ability to have two different dye areas per armor (as most armor seems to have two dominant parts)

6)A skills set interface of some sort (ill detail more into my idea for it later, but ive seen it mentioned before so i included it up here.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Popular Desires I disagree with:
-----------------------------------------
1)"Glowing Dye" will you people PLEASE understand the lag that this would cause? Bad idea, plain and simple.

2)Hand to Hand combat: ugh... Im not trying to start a flame war or anything, but it really wouldnt fit into the whole GW universe, despite the monks kung-fu/dance. Havent you noticed that NONE of the dance emotes fit into a fantasy setting? breakdancing, headbanging, thriller, etc.

----------------------------------------
Popular Desires Im really kinda iffy about:
----------------------------------------
A rogue class of some kind... i dunno.... i think something like a pikeman would be cool, but i really dont have the patience to fully think it through right now... so i wont. GW does need another melee based class tho IMO

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
OK, on to my ideas, which may or may not be new:
------------------------------------------------------------

1: Fix the guild interface... A LOT. I touched on this partially in the other thread, about having a third tab which is a formattable "information" pane, where you could have guild news, TS/vent IPs, web sites, etc, without having the guild announcement permenantly stuck on that information.

--ALSO, List the classes/levels and current locations of guild mates, when i mouse over them, or have little information boxes i can put quick notes into (like, can play heal monk in pvp or something, so i can quick go thru the list and remember what people can play if we want to GvG or Tombs or something.)

2: Friends list... let me either group people... or let me add information about people... especially with peoples names, it can get confusing, and i dont want to have to whisper 10 different people nor do i want to have to write down on paper who people were (kinda defeats the purpose of the friends list) just like even 30 chars or 50 chars or something, just so i can write "GLead Up For Unr" or something.

3: Seriously... auction house (ok i know i shoulda put this up there with common wants, but i mean, come on, flooding is out of hand... its impossible to sell most anything anymore.

4: Let necros select their minions a lot more easily, its hard using death nova effectivly when you cant see the minions health bars (maybe a smaller window pops up with all the current minions health bars and such at the bottom? above your skills bar? being a minion master would be much more practical when you can effectivly turn them into trudging little bombs

++++++++++++++++++++
on to some of the less interface ideas, some in game things that i think would help:
-------------------------

One: Rangers with a high beast mastery (say 10+) should attract animals in the area (this would make Otyughs Cry more effective) to them, not to automatically fight for them, just draw them closer and they stick with the ranger while he wanders (unless sprinting away) Remember animals are base level 5, and there doesnt tend to be a huge amount of animals in a given area, so I dont think this would be a bad thing (if someone can think of a downside to this, please let me know) Either that, or modify Otyughs Cry so it temporarily "charms" the animals to you, I would be willing to bet that if this was the case, a lot more rangers would use this skill (where appropriate to use it).

Two: everyone complains about rangers not being "sneaky enough" well i have an idea for a skill that would basically be PvE ONLY. but I think it would alleviate a lot of peoples concerns without being "ninja" like, no invisible, etc.

===================================
Curious Shot:
En: 15 || Cast: 1sec
Duration: N/A || Recast: 30sec (or 60sec, trying to decide which would be better balanced)
Skill, Fire a noisemaking arrow over the head of target foe 100~200ft past Foe. This skill has 1 1/2 times the normal range of your bow attacks and deals no damage. 50% failure chance with expertise 4 or less. Attr: Expertise
===================================

I think an un-stated downside to this skill is that it will only work on non-"aware" enemies IE: monsters (trolls, imps, minotaur, etc) would not work on mantle, centaur, summit, etc.
What do people think of that? basically you stand farther away, fire the arrow, then watch the mob run in that direction for however long to follow the noise, blah blah, i think its pretty straight forward. (this way also, only primary rangers could use it, no warrior rangers whipping out the bow and moving mobs all over the place.

I seem to have lost most of my train of thought, but I do remember this,
not an interface issue, but an idea for something to add:
Favorite skill sets.

Have like a total of five skill sets that you can completely customize out, all the skills you want, all the attribute levels that you want, etc.
Heres the thing though, have it where changing your skill set (to the full and complete set, any modifying from it, will still cost you) no matter how much your attributes change cost ONE refund point.

Basically (ignore runes)

I can switch from 10str|10axe|9tac|8healpray (dont remember exact)
to...
11str|10hammer|10smite for pvping
at the cost of ONE refund point

then later, when running something, switch to
12str|10tac|8healpray or whatever
at the cost of ONE refund point

Heres my logic/reasoning/insanity behind the idea.
------
No matter what class you are, I can pretty much guarantee that if you take your pve char into a pvp enviroment, you need to completely Re-do your skill bar. Some classes (ranger) this is easy due to probably only having to shift a few at points here and there depending on play style. But what about my warrior? I use hammer warrior in PvP, but in PvE i use an axe. Well I want to take my PvE warrior into PvP, what do i have to do? Either take all my points out of axe and put them into hammer, then hope i kill enough to get them back? I just want the ability to switch between your own custom builds, quickly and cheaply, now, rebuilding from the ground up, that will still require refund points, just like normal. But this way, like my elementalist, well, I dont like air in PvE, i like fire, but PvP i use air. Ok so I switch all my attribute points from that level 12 fire into level 12 air, and switch my headpiece and now im level 16 air, woo, ok but i need to ditch the ranger side for now, and just get e store, ok so more refund points used, and now i cant get out of "pvp" mode until i kill enough to do so?

Also it could be a backup emergency type thing, just in case you really screw your refund/attribute points up, you can go back to a working, effective build, and not be screwed with a non-working build.

As a side to that, someone else mentioned being able to see your parties skill sets, and be able to request skills and the like, ill try and find link to it when i get home this afternoon, i like the idea, but i agree that a "dont show my skills" switch/radiobutton/whatever would def be required.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Thanks for reading my craziness, I apologize for probably rambling a lot where i didnt need to, and i apologize if i insulted anyone elses ideas in any way. I thank you for any constructive feedback to my ideas above.

I hope this reads a bit better!

Suggestion: Add some more formatting; maybe break this logically up into some different posts. "crazy long list of ideas" is, in fact, as hard to read as it sounds like. =)

Yeah, i'm having a hard time digesting all that info as well. It would be better if it was split into 'brain-sized' portions

Sifting through some of the copied ideas onto the original stuff, I really like the ranger ideas, attracting and having animals automatically follow you would be cool as hell and indeed would make Otyughs Cry(or however you spell it) more useful. Curious shot sounds useful, but since the game automatically targets the specified monster i'm not sure how they could make it fire past it - and there could be problems in tight quarters with the arrow just hitting a wall or disappearing.

A really really really nice List, but with the noisy arrow i see some problems coming, cause of the current build missions/quests etc.

I used to think this was a good idea, but if you like dealing with minions the way my friend does, you'll have a huge obstruction on the screen while you try to deal with your minions. Some baddie could just come through unnoticed and start pounding on you.

Granted you would have to take certain things into effect, IE: walls and the like, but if you are smart about using it, you wont fire it "at" an enemy while they stand in front of a wall, which could A: nullify the effect or B: simply drag the mob to wherever the arrow hit

Im not really sure i understand what you mean about auto targeting?
Eles use fire storm, which has to be cast "on" something, but it stays there as soon as the enemy moves, i dont think it would be hard to code something that doesnt "hit" i think you would just code whatever it is that enemies "see" in you, have it go past them X number of feet, so they are drawn that way. ALA chucking an object over a dogs head, he turns around, runs after it, figures out if he wants to eat/kill/play with it, if he decides none (which is how i figure the enemies would react to the arrows "landing spot" they either return to their patrol spot, or stay there (depending on how the enemy would normally react to being dragged.

Also, most of those arent necc. "copied" i just think a lot of gamers think alike.

I was thinking for the minions master himself/herself only, its practically impossible to have like 10+ minions going and be able to target them quick enough to put death nova on them. or do much else with them like for a nec/mo, maybe you want to divine intervention them, or whatever.

I mean, as a true minion master, you basically have to devote your whole bar to said purpose, what Im suggesting, is make the minion master build a bit more viable.

White Dye-Good

Guild Hall Banners-Super Good

Player housing-Bad Bad Bad, I think if they just put in some options for the guild hall, upgrades, that the want of player housing would go down.

Ranger Balancing? beast mastery is not a viable primary, um other than that I don't see what the problem is

Beauty merchant-I don't really like the idea of it taking up space in the game, but I guess I don't really care, about the 2 dyeable areas on armor, I really like this idea and would deffinitely improve the unique characters possibility

Preset skill sets-I like this but I don't like the idea of attribute switching on the fly, I always got the impression that making a build was supposed to take thought and skill, while with being able to switch all your skills and attributes with 1 respec, people would just put together what ever FotM and it would ruin the "skill required" of the game

Glowing dye-Bad bad bad, just add silver and you get a nice shine

Hand to Hand combat-what he said "UGH"

Rogue class- I don't really see the need for a new class, maybe some new attributes but thats it

Guild and friends list- would be nice to have some more info available when you pull these up, but I don't think it's neccesary, if you don't know/remember people, then they probably shouldn't be on your friends list, and if you don't know who someone in your guild is and your to lazy to talk to them to ask them what class they are, then that's your own laziness.

Auction house- would be nice, and would help control prices

Minion's- well, havn't played a minion master but I understand how not being able to target the right one could be a problem when theirs 30 of them running around..

All in all these are all pretty good suggestions, and problems I have are mostly just difference of opinions.
